Position: Chief Officer
Reports to: Master (Captain) and shore management (Operations / Marine Department)
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Master in all navigational, operational, and safety aspects of the vessel.
Plan, monitor, and supervise cargo loading, securing, and discharging in compliance with company and charterer requirements.
Prepare stowage plans and stability calculations to ensure optimal trim, balance, and efficiency.
Manage deck crew, oversee maintenance schedules, and ensure all entries are properly logged in the planned maintenance system (PMS).
Ensure compliance with ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS, and STCW regulations.
Lead safety drills, inspections, and risk assessments; act as Ship Safety Officer when delegated.
Maintain deck inventory, safety equipment records, and ensure operational readiness.
Cooperate with the technical superintendent during port calls and drydockings.
